Nbc Sports Boston was launched on November 6, 2017, as a result of Comcast’s acquisition of majority ownership in BNN (Boston’s Neighborhood Network). The rebranding coincided with the relaunch of CSN New England as a sister network focusing on live game telecasts and highlights; both networks share studios in Burlington, Massachusetts. Prior to the acquisition and relaunch, NESN was the exclusive home for all Red Sox games not televised nationally; select Bruins games also aired onNESNplus due to overflow programming rights restrictions imposed by NHL broadcasting contracts.
In addition to carrying simulcasts of programs airing on NESN—including pre-game and post-game shows surrounding Bruins and Red Sox game telecasts—the network also airs original programs not seen on its sister network.
